WHAT IS DYEING

The dyeing is the process that allows, with of a “bath” in which dyes and auxiliary substances are dissolved in, to give or change color to a fabric. This production process is very delicate and important as it determines the quality, durability, and uniqueness of the final product. Precisely for this reason, the Manifattura Tessile DINOLE® makes the dyeing of its velvets and jacquard fabrics directly in-house.

Since ancient times, man has always had the desire to color and personalize the garments he produced.

Initially, natural dyes were used, made from plants, animals, or minerals. Then, during the 19th century, synthetic dyes were born and they almost completely replaced those previously used.

The machines used for this process are divided into two types: those that treat the fabric in the form of a “rope“, which is gathered in longitudinal folds as long as the fabric itself and immersed in the tanks; and those in which the fabric is treated “in width“, where the fabric gets stretched in all its width.

This method provides the use of the Jigger, a “roll to roll” machine in which the material is unrolled from one roll to be re-rolled on another. The two rollers are placed above a tank inside the dyeing bath takes place at around 100 ° C.

Manifattura Tessile DINOLE® has a powerful water purification system, monitored by periodic checks, through which the water and the remains of the process are filtered and purified.

After the process, the pieces pass into the drying department where they are processed inside a “rameuse“, a furnace over 30 meters long. Here the piece is unrolled, dried, and folded. After that, it is ready for the finishing department.
